COVID-19 Best Practices

We take the COVID-19 pandemic very seriously, and strive to ensure that kids, teens, adults, and their families stay safe and healthy. To protect our students, as well as Bonnie and her family, we require that all students and their parents review and sign our COVID-19 waiver before enrolling in our classes.

In the waiver, we give students the option of either attending classes in the studio or attending classes remotely over Zoom. Additionally, parents can opt to transition to/from in-person and virtual sessions depending on their personal circumstances. We offer this option to provide the most flexibility to our students and their families. In the event that there is another mandate to shelter at home and/or quarantine at home, we will offer all classes remotely.

If parents allow their children/teens to attend classes in-person, they must follow our COVID-19 guidelines, which follow the recommendations from the CDC. By signing our waiver, students and their parents (where applicable) acknowledge the inherent risk of exposure to Covid-19 in any public place where people gather. Students must voluntarily accept all risks of possible exposure to Covid-19 and agree not to hold Mrs. Brunner or the smART Room Studio responsible.

The following guidelines cover the options for both Zoom and in-person studio lessons.

Virtual Art Classes Over Zoom

  1. Student’s supplies must be picked up prior to the beginning of class projects.
  2. Students must purchase shared supplies such as watercolors, colored pencils, markers, pastels if necessary, for use at home.
  3. For kids classes, parents must work with students to preview presentations, instructions, and examples that are emailed ahead of class time.
  4. In the event that your internet connection goes down during our lesson, we can coordinate to reschedule your time.

In-Person Art Classes

  1. Students must also allow Mrs. Brunner to use a no contact temperature reader at her front door if recommended by CDC. Students will not be allowed to enter with a temperature of 99.0 or higher. Parents will keep their child home if they suspect they are ill and understand they will receive make up time for missed classes.
  2. (Should there be a mask mandate) Students must provide their own mask, and be used to wearing one for an hour, as it is required during art class. For kids classes, kids must understand that masks may not be removed during class. Mrs. Brunner will wear one as well. Parents will let Mrs. Brunner know if a student has seasonal allergies. All students will use the bathroom to blow their nose and wash their hands.
  3. Mrs. Brunner will provide hand sanitizer for students to use at the beginning and end of class.
  4. Students are allowed to wear vinyl gloves to class if desired.
  5. For kids classes, parents should be aware that students are allowed to bring a water bottle to class, but that they will step outside of the classroom to drink if recommended by CDC
  6. Parents and/or students will notify Mrs. Brunner if their family has been exposed to Covid-19, that they have tested negative, have finished the 5 day quarantine, and are medically cleared to return to class. (mandated to avoid class cancelations)
