Do you have art classes available for kids, teens, and adults?
Bonnie offers private and group art classes for kids, teens, and adults. Our most popular type of art classes are for homeschooled students from K-12th Grade. As Bonnie is a licensed art teacher in the state of North Carolina, many of our homeschool students use our art classes to fulfill the art requirement of their education. Our classes are specifically designed to meet the educational standards of North Carolina. To learn more about our kids art classes, please visit our curriculum page.
For teens and adults, private lessons are available to fulfill more specific creative goals. We recommend private, one-on-one lessons for teens who want to develop their portfolio for college submissions. Adults who want to advance or master skills in a specific medium are encouraged to inquire about private classes. Our private art classes are customized to fit the subject, medium, and interest of the individual, so pricing and availability will vary. To learn more about our private lessons, visit the private lessons page or contact us directly.
Where are art classes held?
All of our private and group art classes take place in Bonnie's home art studio, a safe, welcoming environment specifically designed to be a classroom. To comply with COVID-19 best practices and guidelines, students also have the option to attend classes virtually over Zoom. To learn more about our in-class COVID-19 requirements and options to study remotely, visit our COVID best practices page.
Prior to starting kids art classes, parents are encouraged to take a studio tour. Studio tours are currently offered as in-person visits or as a virtual session.
Do you offer group lessons?
Group art lessons are available for kids aged K-12th Grade. These classes are for homeschooled students who would like to fulfill their arts requirement or kids that are interested in exploring their passion and interest in visual arts. For more information, please visit our curriculum page.
Do you offer private lessons?
Private lessons are available for kids, teens, and adults. These lessons are customized to fit the interest, medium, and goal for each individual, so pricing and curriculum will vary. For more information, please visit our private lesson page.
Do you offer virtual lessons?
In a pre-COVID world, virtual art lessons were not a huge component of our business. However, in the last year, we have made adjustments to our classes to allow students to work from their homes. We will be offering this option for the foreseeable future. To learn more about our COVID-19 precautions, please visit our COVID information page.
What are your COVID-19 guidelines and precautions?
For the safety of Bonnie and her students, we have a COVID-19 agreement that must be signed before you start classes. This waiver outlines the best practices required to hold in-person classes safely, as well as an option to attend classes virtually. If the student is exposed to COVID-19, please notify Bonnie and allow the recommended quarantine time to pass before returning to class. At any time, parents may choose to switch from in-person to remote classes, if needed.
Under the condition that North Carolina enters another stay-at-home mandate, classes will switch to virtual only. The waiver also acknowledges your awareness that in-person gatherings carry inherent risk, regardless of following CDC guidelines and best practices.
In the waiver, we list our requirements to attend in-person classes at this time. There must be a no-contact temperature reading at the front door before lessons, and masks must be worn through the duration of the class. Hands must be washed regularly.
