In the programs at the smART Room Studio, students explore different materials and techniques through interesting, hands-on projects. During the classes, students will study a variety of artists, art history, and cultures. In these weekly lessons, students will have time to develop original ideas and enhance their skills.
In our art classes for kids and teens, students will work in a group setting, with no more than five students per class. The classes are taught by artist and licensed art teacher Bonnie Brunner in her private home art studio in Cary, NC. Students from Raleigh, Cary, Durham, and the surrounding areas are welcome to apply.
Art Class Curriculum By Grade Level
Elementary School (K-5)
The elementary curriculum is designed to support the development of fine motor skills. Students will learn how to visually express themselves without words and build confidence in their creativity through hands-on projects.
Middle School (6-8)
The middle school curriculum helps students advance skills in the elements of art and design. In our classes, students will socialize and share ideas, teaching them how to present their work and exchange feedback.
High School (9-12)
The high school curriculum introduces students to more specialized art techniques and mediums. Students will find their creative voice and style in our classes, creating sophisticated projects that may be used in a portfolio.
As of February 2020, all classes follow COVID best practices and precautions. For the foreseeable future, students have the option of attending class in-person or attending remotely via Zoom.
